Family Ties

Dear readers,

It’s easy to become routine about the things we say we are grateful for like, life, good health shelter, and our daily bread. On Sunday, March 26, 2017, the day after my birthday, while having dinner with my sisters I was reflecting on the importance of staying connected to family. Sometimes when we feel that life is empty because we lack an intimate or should I say romantic relationship, however, this may not be the whole truth. Examine closely the time spent away from family, this might be the connection that your heart is yearning for. Family should never be taken for granted, Because at the close of the day all we have is God and Family.

What Say You?

You Asked

YOU ASKED

You asked me to write a poem for you so I said,

“What must I say and what would the title be?”

Should I say the sky is beautiful and that your eyes

Are blue. Every river runs deep, so does my love for you.

Tears run down my face, like the sands of an hour glass

Every time you’re away from me.

Should I tell you how sweet your perfume smells every time

The breeze blows, or is this something that you already know.

What must I do to declare my love for you?

Climb the highest mountains,

Swim across the sea, send flowers to you every day and propose

To you on one knee.

You asked me to write a poem for you so I said,

“What must I say and what would the title be?”

You know you hold the key to my heart.

I would do anything for you, even re-build Noah’s ark.

You have me racing against father time.

I have tried to reach you with my mind, because you didn’t

Leave me any spare dimes.

You asked me to write a poem for you so I said,

“What must I say and what would the title be?”

You say you have no answer for me.

Just let what is to be, be.

Good morning. Today is National Appreciation day. No, it’s not a real holiday that is fixed on the calendar. I am declaring, this to be National Appreciation to get people to think about the last time they closely examined, the person who throw them the rope, held on, and risk their own safety, when you found yourself standing in quick stand. Think about the people who claim to” have your back” in a do or die situation, only to turn around and give you a laundry list of excuses when you called them for help. when was the last time you paid tribute to the one who stood by you through the darkness into the light. When you were broke and they gave you $2.50 of the $5.00 they had. When you called them at 3 am because there was not one else to call, and they said, ” I’m on my way.” If you have at least one true Friend in your life, don’t take them for granted express your appreciation for what they mean to you daily.

Now, repeat after me, Today is going to be a Good Day.

What say You?

Grant me Peace

Dear readers,

I am thankful for a peaceful morning. We need to become aware of the effects of NOISE. Too much chatter/ NOISE can have damaging affects on us mentally, NOISE prevents us from staying focus. NOISE is also physically draining. People are afraid of silence because they might hear what they need to hear and not what they want to hear. If you life lack clarity, I challenge you to try one day without TV, Radio, Social Media, turn off the Cell Phone, computer, JUST TURN OFF THE NOISE. Instead, take a walk, talk to your family, play a board game, read, or just sit in a favorite chair and BE Still.Today my strength is restore. I am grateful!

Word Wall part 3

Dear readers,

They say, ” Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never harm me”

We’ve all recited these words to ourselves after someone has said something cruel. Parents teach their children this adage insisting that it not what people say to them, rather its more important how people treat them. This might have been true years ago when people chose their words wisely. Today it’s not uncommon to hear words like:

stupid, ugly, fat, lazy, useless, damaged, poor, not good enough, weak, and hopeless

While your reading this post some where in the world someone is hearing this:

I don’t know why I bother, you’re so stupid, ugly, fat useless, weak, lazy, damaged, poor, not good enough, and your hopeless.

Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will have a lasting effect that can leave wounds that may never heal.

Murmurations of Art

This is worth reading

Mindflight

Mindflight is, above all, a site for artists.  I recently had a short discussion about what “Life is Art” means.  Being in a philosophical mood, I started thinking about it.  A fellow blogger and all around cool person, StreetPsychiatrist, said “just imagine if one could infuse art into the most mundane of activities… that would be something of a masterpiece.”

I agree!

I started thinking about all the ways art has been incorporated into daily life across times, across the globe.  I recalled aboriginal dot paintings that are beautiful but tell how to find water holes.  I thought about beaded bags and knife sheaths among the natives of the American Plains.  I thought about the delicate laquerware of old Japan, and the paintings on their paper room dividers.  I thought about the beautifully turned furniture of Victorian England.  I thought of murals in my own city.  I thought of…
