YOU ASKED

You asked me to write a poem for you so I said,

“What must I say and what would the title be?”

Should I say the sky is beautiful and that your eyes

Are blue. Every river runs deep, so does my love for you.

Tears run down my face, like the sands of an hour glass

Every time you’re away from me.

Should I tell you how sweet your perfume smells every time

The breeze blows, or is this something that you already know.

What must I do to declare my love for you?

Climb the highest mountains,

Swim across the sea, send flowers to you every day and propose

To you on one knee.

You asked me to write a poem for you so I said,

“What must I say and what would the title be?”

You know you hold the key to my heart.

I would do anything for you, even re-build Noah’s ark.

You have me racing against father time.

I have tried to reach you with my mind, because you didn’t

Leave me any spare dimes.

You asked me to write a poem for you so I said,

“What must I say and what would the title be?”

You say you have no answer for me.

Just let what is to be, be.

Dear readers,

Is it me, Or is it just easy to play the “like” game? Meaning, click the like button without reading the content. I likes you, so you feel obligated to like me back. Is it intruding on your time, to say a few words about what you like about the topic, poem, short stories, etc…

Considering most people’s, attention span; I keep my postings to 250 words or less. Maybe I missed the objective of being connected to a community of artist, writers, poetics, comedians and motivational speakers, which is to share ideas, and to get feedback. Oh, Well, I guess no one will like this.

A Short Analysis of Thomas Hardy’s ‘The Darkling Thrush’

Interesting Literature

A brief summary and analysis of a classic Thomas Hardy poem

Thomas Hardy’s novels often overshadow his poetry, although a handful of poems from his vast poetic output remain popular in verse anthologies. One such case is ‘The Darkling Thrush’, a great winter poem which was first published on 29 December 1900. Poised on the cusp of a new year (and even, depending on your view of the matter, a new century), Hardy reflects in this poem on the events of the nineteenth century, his own feelings about the future, and his attitude to nature. Here is ‘The Darkling Thrush’, followed by a brief analysis of its features.

The Darkling Thrush

I leant upon a coppice gate,
When Frost was spectre-gray,
And Winter’s dregs made desolate
The weakening eye of day.
The tangled bine-stems scored the sky
Like strings of broken lyres,
And all mankind that haunted nigh
Had sought their…
